未知なるビールの世界へようこそ【キプロス共和国（Republic of Cyprus）編Part①】

みなさん、こんにちは。ビール好きのmyuyapです。またお会いできましたね！今回も中の人に代わり、わたしからビール旅行記をお送りいたします。キプロス編Part①です！
皆さんはキプロスをご存知でしょうか？
トルコの南に位置するキプロスは、中東地域かと思いきやEUに加盟する欧州の国です。
50年前に南北が分断され、南側のキプロス共和国はギリシャ系キプロス人、北側の北キプロスはトルコ系キプロス人が生活をしています。そしてキプロスの真ん中、首都ニコシアにはグリーンラインという国際連合キプロス緩衝地帯があり、南と北を行き来することが出来ます。ニコシアはヴェネツィア時代末期に築かれた立派な城壁に囲まれている街で、その隔てられた感じが閉ざされた雰囲気もあり、そして国連軍の配備もあって殺伐としているかと思いきや、「世界で唯一分断された首都ニコシア」は観光地でもありました。
こちらはキプロス共和国のニコシアでいただいたキプロス料理です。ギリシャ料理に似ています。キプロスサラダと、この焼き鳥みたいなお肉が美味しかったです。
こちらは北キプロスのニコシアにあるお店です。THEケバブ屋！
分断されていると聞くと争いが耐えない物騒な場所かと思いましたが、猫だらけの穏やかなところで、わたしも滞在中2度ほどグリーンラインを行き来しました。ですが、北キプロスはトルコにしか国として認められていないため、日本は国交がありませんので行かれる際は重々お気をつけください！！
キプロスは世界の中でも古くからワインを作っていたと言われている国で、なんとクレオパトラがキプロスワインを愛飲していたと言われています。美と愛の女神アフロディーテの生誕の地もあり、悠久の歴史を感じる素敵な国です。
わたしが訪問したのは7月ですが、昼は35℃を越える炎天下、朝からビールが飲みたくなります。
キプロスで一番ポピュラーなビールはKEO社がつくるKEOビールです。KEO社はキプロス最大手のワイナリーであり、ワイン、ビールの他にもスピリッツなども製造しています。ワイナリーが作っているからと侮るなかれ！
KEOビールは、イギリスで開催された世界的なビールコンテストで1位に輝いたこともある暑いキプロスの夏にぴったりの美味しいビールです。街のいたるところで飲める、キプロスの国民に愛されているビールです。
そんな古よりお酒を愛する国、キプロスの首都ニコシアで訪問したビアバーをご紹介いたします。
①BrewFellas
ニコシアでクラフトビールを飲むなら、まずこちら！
キプロス内で製造するビールを始め、様々なクラフトビールをドラフトもしくは缶・ボトルでいただけます。キプロスにはお店を持たないビール醸造所がいくつかありますが、このお店で飲める可能性が高いです。今回いただいたCrossline Brewingも、ニコシアでビールの製造と缶のテイクアウトのみを行っている醸造所で、ドラフトのビールをいただけるなんてレアです！
こちらの濁っていて美味しそうなビールは、New England Hazy IPAのNOISEです。新しく発売されたようですが既に人気があり、トロピカル＆ジューシーでとても美味しかったです。新しいブルワリーですが、既に受賞歴も今後も楽しみ。
②The Walls Inn Club
こちらは北キプロスにあるDouble O Brewing が運営するThe Walls Inn Clubというビアバーです。新しいお店ですがオーセンティックなバーの内装で、とても素敵な雰囲気のお店でした。醸造所がすぐ近くにあるので、ドラフトの種類がとっても豊富です！
こちらでは飲み比べで沢山の種類を飲ませていただきました。特にミルクシェイクIPAが印象的で、Mango
Milkshake IPAとStrawberry Milkshake IPAが絶品でした。キプロス内でミルクシェイクIPAは、こちらが断トツに美味しいと思います。
Double O Brewingは北キプロスのニコシアにありますが、南側にあるブルワリーともお付き合いがあるようです。ビールを愛する気持ちは国境を越えるのですね！
③Golem Brewhouse
2年くらい前にニコシアに誕生した醸造所です。
チェコから移住されたブルワーが作るビールは、チェコビールの良さとキプロスの気候に合う爽やかさがあります。喉越しが良いLAGERと、こちらで人気のHIBISCUS GOSEをいただきました。どちらもドリンカブルでとても美味しかったです！

Located south of Turkey, Cyprus may seem
like a Middle Eastern country, but it is actually a European country that isa
member of the EU.
Cyprus was divided into North and South 50
years ago, and currently Greek Cypriots live in the south of the Republic of
Cyprus, and Turkish Cypriots live in the north. In the center of Cyprus, in the
capital Nicosia, there is the United Nations Cyprus Buffer Zone known as the
Green Line, which allows travel between the north and south. Nicosia is a city
surrounded by impressive walls built at the end of the Venetian period, and has
a sense of isolation due to its division, and the deployment of UN troops gives
it a desolate impression, but Nicosia, the world's only divided capital, is
also a tourist destination.

Republic of Cyprus.
It's similar to Greek food.
The Cypriot salad and this yakitori-like
meat were delicious.
By the way, this restaurant is a kebab
restaurant in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus!
When I heard that it was divided, I thought
it was a dangerous place with constant fighting, but it was a peaceful place
with lots of cats, and I crossed the Green Line twice during my stay.
However, Northern Cyprus is only recognized
as a country by Turkey, and Japan does not have diplomatic relations with it,
so please be careful if you go there!!
Cyprus is said to be one of the oldest
wine-producing countries in the world, and Cleopatra is said to have been a fan
of Cypriot wine. It is also the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty
and love, and is a wonderful country with a long history.
I visited in July, and the daytime
temperature exceeded 35°C, so hot that it made me want to drink a beer in the
morning.
The most popular beer in Cyprus is KEO beer,
produced by KEO.
KEO is the largest winery in Cyprus,
producing wine, beer, and spirits. Don't be fooled just because it's produced
by a winery!
KEO beer is a delicious beer that's perfect
for the hot Cypriot summer, and it has even won first place at a world beer
competition held in the UK.
It's a beer that you can see all over the
city and is loved by the people of Cyprus.
We visited a beer bar in Nicosia, the
capital of Cyprus, a country that has loved alcohol since ancient times.
If you want to drink craft beer in Nicosia,

You can enjoy a variety of beers, including
Cyprus-made beer, on draft, in cans, and in bottles. There are some breweries
in Cyprus that don't have stores, but there's a good chance you'll be able to
drink it here. Crossline Brewing, which I drank this time, brews its beer at a
brewery in Nicosia and only sells canned beer for takeaway, so it is rare to be
able to drink draft beer!
This cloudy, delicious-looking beer is
NOISE, a New England Hazy IPA.
Although it seems to have been newly
released, it is already popular, and it was tropical, juicy, and very
delicious. Although it's a new brewery, it has already won awards and is a
brewery to look forward to in the future.
The Walls in Club is a beer bar run by
Double O Brewing in North Cyprus. It's a new bar, but it has a great atmosphere
with a full-fledged bar interior. The brewery is right nearby, so they have a
wide variety of draft beers!
I tried a few different types here.
The Milkshake IPA was particularly
impressive, and the Mango Milkshake IPA and Strawberry Milkshake IPA were
excellent. I thought it was the best milkshake IPA in Cyprus.
Double O Brewing is based in Nicosia, North
Cyprus, but has connections with breweries in the South too. It seems the love
of beer crosses borders!
This brewery opened in Nicosia about two
years ago. The beer made by a brewer who immigrated from the Czech Republic is
characterized by the good qualities of Czech beer and a refreshing taste that
suits the climate of Cyprus. I tried the smooth LAGER and the popular HIBISCUS
GOSE. Both were easy to drink and very delicious!
